Rock Valley College

Delta Alpha Pi

Purpose

Delta Alpha Pi International Honor Society was founded in 2004 at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and is open to undergraduate and graduate students with disabilities. Due to the negative stereotyping associated with disability, students are sometimes reluctant to identify themselves publicly. Delta Alpha Pi Honor Society presents an opportunity to change that perception by recognizing students with disabilities for their academic accomplishments. In addition, this Honor Society facilitates development of skills in leadership, advocacy and education for participating students.

How do I join?

Rock Valley College students may fill out an online application or fill out and return a printed application available in both the Disability Support Services and TRiO Student Support offices. Applications are reviewed at the end of the fall and spring semesters.

Criteria

All students must:

  • Present with a documented disability or self-identify as an individual with a disability and work with one of the faculty or staff members in the Office of Disability Services
  • Demonstrate an interest in disability issues.

Undergraduate students must have:

  • Completed a minimum of 24 credits
  • Earned an overall Quality Point Average of 3.10 on a 4.00 scale.

Can I still be involved if I do not meet the criteria?

Yes!

Students who do not meet the criteria can still get involved as club members. The Delta Alpha Pi Club is open to all Rock Valley College students and welcomes students who do not have a disability as important allies and club members. Club members need only to sign up via OrgSync and get involved with meetings and events.
