RVC Hosting FAFSA Completion Event

Students and parents who need help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) can come to Rock Valley College on Wednesday, October 24, 2018. Representatives from the Financial Aid office of RVC will be available from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the Student Center RVC’s main campus (3301 North Mulford Road).

Academic advisors will also be available to assist students with planning for spring schedules.  Spring 2019 registration opens at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2018.

RVC Financial Aid staff will be on hand to answer questions about financial aid and provide personalized, confidential assistance. FAFSA worksheet forms may be obtained from the RVC Financial Aid office, high school guidance counselor offices, area libraries, or online at

Attendees should plan to bring the following (if available):

  • Social Security Number. Be sure it is correct!
  • Your Alien Registration Number, if you (the student) are not a U.S. citizen.
  • Your 2017 federal tax returns, W-2’s, and other records of income.
  • Banking statements and records of investments (if applicable).
  • Records of untaxed income (if applicable).

An FSA ID to sign electronically. (This can be created beforehand at, or at the time of application). Go to to create your FSA ID.

Please note:

  • Parental information is required unless you are at least 24 years of age.
  • Only parents who do not have a Social Security number can enter 000-00-0000 on the FAFSA.
  • Use income records for the year prior to the academic year for which you are applying: for instance, if you are filling out the 2019 – 2020 FAFSA, you will need 2017 income information.
