This class is designed for the new user or those with no experience interested in learning computers. Provides individuals with the skills and confidence to continue learning. You will learn terms and fundamentals. What is Windows? Software vs. Hardware. What is a hard/floppy drive/CD-ROM? Memory and storage. What is a file?

Windows Organizational File Management Workshop
 

Oh, where did I put that file; learn how to organize your pictures, emails and files. We will learn how to save files and understand computer organization of drive, folder, and file concepts. The same organization applies to tables and phones not just computers.

Adobe Photoshop CS5
 

Learn how to correct and enhance your photos with Adobe Photoshop CS5. You will learn how to retouch and enhance your photos through hands-on experience. You will learn how to use many of the tools to edit your photos and images including selection tools, resizing and cropping, removing red eye, re-coloring certain areas of your photo, contrast and brightness and filters and many other techniques
to correct those photos you thought were useless.

Upon successful completion of a Specialist Series in MS Word, Excel, Access or PowerPoint, students will receive a RVC Skills Certificate plus be eligible to take the RVC Computer Skills Exam at no additional charge. Word 2013 is a powerful word processing program that allows you to do much more than just type documents.

Excel 2013 is a powerful Spreadsheet that allows you to create several different types of documents.

Intro to HTML and CSS


If you want to understand the basics of what makes a website work then this course is for you. During this course you will gain an understanding of how HTML and CSS can be used to create and maintain basic web pages. Even if you are using an editor such as Dreamweaver, or a CMS such as WordPress or Joomla, you will need to know enough HTML and CSS to make necessary “code tweaks” in order to get your web pages to do what you want them to do. Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Create basic HTML elements such as hyperlinks, images, tables, and forms.
  • Structure a web page effectively.
  • Control the look and placement of HTML elements using Cascading Style Sheets.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of box properties and external style sheets.
  • Create HTML source code that is both readable and upholds HTML5 standards.
  • Develop a multi-page website using HTML5 and CSS.

JavaScript Essentials
 

While HTML defines the content of a web document and CSS defines the presentation of that content, JavaScript controls the behavior of the web document. This means that JavaScript makes it possible to add user inter activity to your web document (e.g. form validation, calculations, etc.). WordPress is an open-source (free), web-based software program that anyone can use to build and maintain a website or blog. The WordPress editing interface is very easy to use, and the sites administrator can grant various levels of access to others, allowing them to contribute to the website/
blog. Because the Interface is web-based, creating and editing pages can be done from anywhere with an Internet connection. This short course is designed to give you the basic information you need to get a WordPress site up and running.
