The Highway Construction Careers Training Program (HCCTP) aims to help women, minorities, and disadvantaged individuals gain acceptance into the construction trades. During the 14 week class, participants will engage in 450 hours of apprenticeship readiness training with the goal of applying for and obtaining an apprenticeship in the building trades.

HCCTP is offered twice a year (Fall and Spring) and the admission process is competitive—not all who apply will be accepted.

HCCTP is at no cost to the participant as it is funded entirely by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

The next class begins August 5, 2019. Orientation and Testing will begin in June 2019. Apply below.

Applying to HCCTP requires several steps, beginning with a mandatory Orientation/Testing Session.

  • Tuesday, June 25 at 10 a.m.
  • Wednesday, June 26 at 2 p.m.
  • Thursday, June 27 at 6 p.m.

Application Checklist

  1. Register for and attend an Orientation Session.
    *NOTE: All Orientation Sessions are in Rm. 129 at RVC’s Stenstrom Center for Career Education (SCCE) located at 4151 Samuelson Road, Rockford, IL 61109
  2. Math and Reading Testing – Taken after orientation for those wanting to proceed
  3. Potential candidates are invited for an interview, then selections are made
  4. Drug testing
