The North Central Community College Conference (N4C) announced the cancellation of its schedules for volleyball, men’s basketball and women’s basketball, and RVC has made the decision to cancel these traditional sport seasons. However, these sports will look to participate in the NJCAA Alternate Season scrimmages in late April/early May.
As for the college's remaining intercollegiate sports, outdoor sports will move forward and compete during the spring 2021 semester. Men's and women's soccer were moved from fall competition to spring, per the NJCAA 2021 Sports Guidelines, and will compete in a shortened season with practices beginning in March and competition beginning in April. Meanwhile, RVC's traditional spring sports, baseball and softball, will continue this spring season with some modifications. Annual spring trips for baseball and softball were canceled as have in-season overnight trips.
RVC bowling will participate in a shortened season in the spring and will attend the 2021 NJCAA National Bowling meet in April.
RVC was also to be the host site for the NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament in March but the NJCAA has canceled the tournament and RVC will no longer be the host site. RVC is still scheduled to host that tournament in 2022 and 2023.
RVC promotes multiple methods of determining student placement. If none of the methods provide sufficient placement, the college is deferring placement during the COVID-19 health crisis.
More info on placement can be found at rockvalleycollege.edu/placement.
All new students enrolling in credit classes are required to meet placement requirements prior to registering for credit courses and must submit a completed application to RVC.

Rock Valley College Community & Continuing Education will offer three primary modes of instruction for courses:
The face-to-face portion of classes require face masks, social distancing, and will result in reduced capacity to allow for six-foot social distancing requirements.
Along with a successful transition of our region of Illinois into Phase IV of Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s Restore Illinois plan, resuming on-campus instruction is predicated upon our ability to provide adequate COVID-19 testing for our entire community, of faculty, staff and students, coupled with a comprehensive plan that looks after the vulnerable, and aims at mitigating and containing any outbreaks.
View our Community and Continuing Education COVID Information page for more details.
